Star Sport Academy has made history by becoming the first football club in Sierra Leone to officially appoint a Sports Psychologist.

The club has appointed Mr. Yousouf Sillah as its Sports Psychologist and Mental Performance Coach, a move aimed at helping players improve their confidence, focus, and mental strength.

Mr. Sillah will work with the club’s Senior Team and Youth Development Programme, providing psychological support and helping players prepare better for training and matches.

Mr. Yousouf Sillah brings international experience to Star Sport Academy. He was born, raised, and educated in Saudi Arabia before continuing his football journey in Egypt, where he gained experience in football development. He has worked in different football environments and developed skills in mental performance coaching and player development.

Before joining Star Sport Academy, Mr. Sillah served as the Technical Director and Mental Performance Coach at Nur Academy, where he supported players in improving their performance and growth.

Speaking about his new role, Mr. Sillah expressed his excitement about joining Star Sport Academy and said he is looking forward to making a positive contribution to the club.

The appointment shows the growing importance of sports psychology in modern football. Success in the game is not only about physical ability and technical skills but also about having a strong mindset.
