Star Sport Academy has finalised the signing of Ivorian forward Ibrahim Kone as the club bolsters its squad for the 2026-2027 campaign and its inaugural appearance in a regional tournament.

The acquisition comes as the Sierra Leone Premier League side prepares for its historic debut at the West Africa Champions Cup (WACC) in Kankan, Guinea, from August 14-21, 2026. Club officials have indicated that participation in the regional competition forms a key part of the team’s preparations for the domestic season.

Kone joins a squad that has been actively reinforced in recent months. The club previously announced the additions of players including Abubakarr Yillah, Abdul Budu, and Ivorian midfielder Mamadi Kone in February 2026. The team has since named a 27-man squad for the WACC, including three goalkeepers, as they prepare to face regional powerhouses such as Horoya AC and Hafia FC.

Head Coach Amidu Karim has expressed confidence in the team’s ability to compete in the tournament. “We are going to create a serious impact in the tournament by bringing laurels home,” Karim told local media.
