Star Sports Academy FC has received support from the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) ahead of its participation in the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, with the football governing body assuring the club of continued guidance throughout the continental campaign.
The assurance was given during a courtesy visit by a delegation from Star Sports Academy, led by Chairman Ing. Yankuba Jusu Tarawally, to the SLFA Secretariat in Freetown.
During the engagement, SLFA President Babadi Kamara presented the club with 25 match balls and pledged the association’s support through its Competitions Department before, during and after the tournament.
President Kamara said the club’s participation represents more than an individual team’s achievement, describing the CAF Champions League campaign as a national responsibility.
“This is no longer just about Star Sports Academy; it is about Sierra Leone,” Kamara said, encouraging the team to use the opportunity to showcase the country’s football talent on the continental stage.
He also commended Star Sports Academy for accepting the responsibility of representing Sierra Leone following the withdrawal of Leone Rock Premier League champions Bo Rangers FC.
Responding on behalf of the club, Chairman Ing. Yankuba Jusu Tarawally thanked the SLFA leadership for the confidence placed in Star Sports Academy and assured the association that the team would represent Sierra Leone with commitment, discipline and determination.
Tarawally also praised President Kamara’s leadership at the SLFA, expressing confidence in his efforts to contribute to the development of Sierra Leone football.
Star Sports Academy is now preparing for its CAF Champions League campaign, where the club will compete against other top teams on the African continent.
The club’s participation is expected to provide another opportunity for Sierra Leone football to gain international exposure and demonstrate the quality of talent within the country.
