Charleston Battery forward, Augustine Williams has been called up to be part of John Keister’s final Squad to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in match day five of the African Cup of Nations Qualifiers (AfCON) in Liberia.

The 25-year-old has scored eight goals in his last 14 USL Championship appearances for Charleston.

The informed striker recently netted two goals in Battery’s 2-0 victory against Rio Grande Valley in the USL Championship.

Despite his prolific form, the striker is searching for his first goal in the  Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone head coach, John Keister recently announced a 38-man provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The encounter which will be played at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Monrovia, neighboring Liberia is slated for June 18.

The gaffer is expected to cut down the list before the game. Keister’s technical team has started issuing invitations for foreign-based players and Augustine William is among the list of invited players.

The Leone Stars are currently third on the Group A table with five points from four games.

Sierra Leone needs to win the game to keep their dreams of making it to Cote d’Ivoire 2023 alive.

Sierra Leone will be eager to break a long-standing winless streak against Nigeria, having not defeated their West African neighbors since their narrow 1-0 triumph in a World Cup qualifier back in 2001.
