Sierra Leone’s most professional cycling competition, Tour de Lunsar has started this afternoon in the northern town of Lunsar.

The first feat will see Deborah Conteh aims to defend her LeCol blue jersey she won in 2022.

The junior race has also started featuring talented youngsters that used the same route plied by the women competitors.

Stage One of the competition will see the elite men race a 102.5km route starting from Lungi International Airport all the way to Lunsar. Organisers of the competition said that the winner of the first day will take home the SiS yellow jersey of the race.

Henry Koroma of Makeni Cycling won third position in the male junior category, Second position in 2hr 7min, Mohamed Bangura from Kono Cyling Team grabbed it.

From a distance of 85 kilometers, Abdulrahman Koroma from Lunsar Cycling Team won 1st position thus announced Junior Champion of the 2023 Tour De Lunsar.

The final stage of the race will be on Saturday 29th April and see cyclist race for the north-eastern city of Makeni in a distance 128km from Lunsar.

The Tour de Lunsar attracts several cyclists in Sierra Leone and other parts of the Mano River basin.
