Kolo Toure’s Wigan are looking to bring in Leone Stars Captain, Steven Caulker to steady a leaky backline, with the 31-year-old currently playing in Turkey for the 14th club of his career, per Daily Mail.

Caulker who recently resumed his international career with Sierra Leone is wanted by Kolo Toure’s Wigan, who have lost each of their last three Championship games 4-1.

They are now looking to bring in the Leone Stars defender in this January transfer window to steady their fragile back line.

UK Daily Mail reports that Wigan are in talks with the former England defender Steven Caulker who has spent the last four years in Turkey.

Manager Kolo Toure sees 31-year-old Caulker as a help in tightening up his bottom-of-the-table team.

The centre-half scored on his only England appearance against Sweden in 2012 and after spells with 14 different clubs including Tottenham and Liverpool he’s played for Fatih Karagumruk in the Turkish top flight this season.

He most recently played in England during a three year spell at QPR which saw him sent out on loan twice before he was finally sold to Dundee in 2018.
The centre half then moved to Alanyaspor and has since established himself as a regular in the Super Lig.

Caulker has also recently returned to international football, albeit representing Sierra Leone, making 10 appearances last year, including three in the country’s African Cup of Nations (AFCON) appearances after a 25 years hiatus. He was appointed as Leone Stars captain last year, taking over from Umaru Zengellay Bangura.
