Notable Sierra Leoneans including APC Presidential aspirant, Samura Kamara and Former Leone Stars Striker, Kei Kamara have had their Legacy verification badges removed by Twitter.

This action was taken by the microblogging site on Thursday.

Other international notable personalities like the Former U.S President, Donald Trump, International music stars, Beyonce, Davido, Wizkid; Chelsea football player, Mason Mount, and many others also had their blue tick removed.

In March, Twitter owner Elon Musk hinted at plans to commercialize verification tick in a tweet that included links to subscribe to the premium program.

He also stated that the legacy verified program would be phased out, and the blue checkmarks would be removed on April 1st. To retain the blue checkmark, individuals could sign up for Twitter Blue.

Elon Musk later announced that the final date for the free blue badge removal on his verified Twitter handle will be April 20th.

It is possible that the Samura Kamara and Kei Kamara’s Blue Tick removal is related to their failure to pay their verification subscription fee, as announced by Musk.

In response to his blue tick removal, Kei Kamara tweeted on Friday, “That blue check was fun, and I’m Proud to say I worked to earned it and still will not pay for it. If you know me, you know me”
