The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) has postponed the date for the collection of voter’s identity cards.

This was communicated through a public notice issued out on Monday 13th March, 2023.

The Commission, in the public notice, announced that registrants could not collect their voter’s ID cards between 17th and 26th of this month as scheduled. The ECSL announced the 7th to the 16th April this year as the new date for collection of the ID cards.

“The postponement is due to the delay in air freighting of the voter registration cards caused by strike action of air traffic controllers of the chartered cargo flight,” the ECSL said.

They pleaded with the public to show understanding and furthered assured them of their commitment in conducting a free and fair elections this June.

In another news, the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Dr. Samura Kamara has selected Honourable Chernoh Maju Bah to be his running for this year’s election.

The pair will face the incumbent Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) President Julius Maada Bio for the second after losing to him in the 2018 elections.
