The Minister of Lands, Housing and Country Planning Dr Turald Senesie has informed Sierra Leoneans that the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Lands, is set to provide 5000 homes for Sierra Leoneans.

According to the report, the project will commence in the provinces and would be followed by more than 10,000 houses later to ease the housing problem in the country.

Minister Senesie disclosed the news while addressing delegates of the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) last week.

Explaining an overview of His Ministry’s activities since President Bio took over governance in 2018.

He however asserted that the housing scheme has been introduced successfully.
Noting, the government will ensure people have a place to lay their heads.

The Lands Minister further disclosed that the new city for the Sierra Leone project which will house the executive arm of government; is going to be created in Lungi, noting that the Ministry has already concluded the survey;
a first-class teaching hospital and affordable housing for the new city.

The Land Ministry, was the most chaotic Government Ministry when President Bio newly took over.

The Ministry has become calmer and has seen more revenue generation in recent times.

Dr Turald Senesie was appointed to lead the Ministry following the dismissal of his predecessor, Dr Denis Sandy.

Lately, the Ministry has generated Le21.6 billion.

Furthermore, progress, the Minister said is a result of the policies he introduced to enhance citizens’ access to lands across the country.

We have reviewed and brought in new laws. Some of the laws give women the power to own lands in the country.  The ministry has brought some progressive policies that enhance citizens’ access to lands across the country,” he said.

The Minister explained that the ministry, under his leadership, has been distributing lands to citizens across Sierra Leone.
