The Deputy Chairman of the National Grand Coalition (NGC) party, Jesmed Suma has promised supporters and sympathisers of the party that they plan to settle their internal disputes as a family.

“Please be informed that the leadership of the party will be meeting soon to review the situation,” the Deputy Chairman said in a press release issued this afternoon.

The party, in less than three days, witness the resignation of four senior executive members including the chairman, Dr. Dennis Bright and Alan Luke, the Diaspora Coordinator among others.

Their reasons for resigning from the Party are similar. Dr. Bright and others said that the party has lost its object and trajectory for which it was founded about 6 years ago. Luke in particular wrote on resignation letter that the party has lost its ‘Put Salon Fos’ mantra and that some members are now selfish.

Many believe that the resignation galore is due to a NEC meeting the party had this past weekend where some members called for an alliance with the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP).

The spate of resignation these past few days by the party’s executive members have left analyst and supporters to presuppose that this will mark its downfall.

The NGC party polled over 40,000 votes in the previous presidential election in 2018 with most of its supporters being Sierra Leoneans in the diaspora and locals who detest the two main parties in the country.

Hopes for them to better their previous score in the June 2023 Elections have simmered as the party now seems to be heading for the doldrums.
