• Sierra Leone to be removed from IMO blacklist
• More vessels to do business with Sierra Leone
• Commodity prices to reduce

The Executive Director (ED) of the Sierra Leone Maritime Administration today at the ceremony where Ambassador Dr. Morie Manyeh was presenting his credentials as the newly appointed IMO Permanent representative presented to the Secretary-General that this is the first time our country has appointed an IMO permanent rep, even though we have had an alternative rep all this while.

That shows our commitment to putting our maritime on the map focusing on ratifying all our conventions with the international community, especially the IMO.

The ED pleaded with the Secretary-General to visit our country as a member state to see the need for us to be removed from the IMO blacklist, which will alternatively pave the way for more big international vessels to do business with our country and help in reducing hiking prices of commodities.

The ED also informed the IMO SG that we do not have any seafarers represented in our flagships and pleaded that he considers approving our STCW and removing us from the IMO blacklist.

The IMO Secretary-General, in turn, appreciated the move and commended Sierra Leone for this huge international bilateral move and promised to consider all our proposals.

Now we see how strategic President Bio’s vision and confidence are in Paul Massaquoi’s leadership.

We hope that he is giving more time to complete his task at the Maritime for the good of our president’s vision and our country’s economic boost.
