“We Will Not Resign” – ECSL’s Mohamed Konneh Replies Samura Kamara
Mohamed Foday Conteh The Chief Electoral Commissioner, Mohamed Kenewui Konneh has affirmed that he will not resign amidst call by the leadership of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party to step down in two days time.
“I will not resign and non of my commissioners will resign,” Konneh said at the ECSL’s Briefing Sessions for accredited National and International Observers and the Media at Freetown International Conference Centre.
He stated that the Commission is presently on course to conduct the 24 June polls.
“In fact presidential election has already started for Muslim pilgrims today,” He said.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Presidential Candidate for the APC, Dr. Samura Kamara in an address to the public gave Konneh and his commissioners three days to step down from their position.
Kamara made his lack trust for the Commission clear during his over one hour address.
He drew instances that might be equated to electoral fraud ahead of the polls.
The statement by the APC Presidential Candidate left some members of the public in shock.
Later on Thursday, the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) also intimated to the public that they will be addressing the public.
Political campaigns are already folding up as the West African nation edges towards the multitier election.
Thank you Mr Konneh for making your position clear to these fools called the APC.
It’s like all tatics from the APC is a void towards the election, such messages by Samura is an incitement to his supporters, it’s a shame for higher level educators to be playing around with the future of the nation towards peace n progress n development for the nation

I think it’s APC party generally that numerated Commissioners and returning ECSL. There’s non sense in the statement of the leadership of APC. They thought what Thorpe did to SLPP Konneh Will do the same to them.
It is indeed factual that this Konneh guy is in favor of the SLPP. What Samura said in his speech is obviously the fact. These people must resign as they aren’t fit to conduct this election.

It is unfortunate to hear Dr.Samura Wilson Matthew Kamara making making such threats. Dr Ernest Bai Koroma ruled for 11 years. He appointed the ECSL boss N’fai Alie, the main opposition then led by Julius Maada Bio did not protest but worked with Koroma by following the process. Dr Samura Wilson Matthew Kamara should note the constitution stated that the president should appoint the ECSL boss. Why wait few days to elections before issuing out unreasonable demands?
The date of the election stands as mandated. I’m an APCian and I think i think if we must keep the naio at heart first and hope to win b by our merits and not by force. Let’s be peaceful and believe that we will win if we are on the right course for of progress the nation. Peaceful and fair election should be our only demand.

The APC party is lawless and has demonstrated to Sierra Leoneans that they are not prepared to take responsibility for their inactions . Where was the APC MPs and Dr Samura Wilson Matthew Kamara when Mr Mohammed Konneh’s appointment was approved by parliament? Has the APC executives and Dr. Samura Wilson Matthew Kamara read the constitution of Sierra Leone in relation to the appointment of the ECSL boss ? It is only H.E Bio that have the constitutional mandate to sack Mr. Konneh.
The unreasonable demands and childish presentation of the APC party demonstrates lack of preparation, on the part of the APC for this election.They had 5 years to prepare for this ection . APC had been part of the process. If you allowed individuals in diasporan community to dictate to you not to participate in democratic exercises and process . Who will you blame for your own loss? Where was Dr.Samura Kamara when this entire electoral process started ? Why did he not raise concerns then?
Is Dr Samura Wilson Matthew Kamara aware of the fact that former president Ernest Bai Koroma of the APC had set precedents.with regards voters register and it publication time ? The adage what is good for goose must be good for the gander. APC folks should stop threatening the nation with threats of war. No one declared war on Ernest Bai Koroma during his 11 years of governance. I will suggests to desperate APC folks to stop their threats . The real subject of their anger is Ernest Bai Koroma who had benched their best players and manipulated the affairs of APC which left APC at it knees in the hands of Adebayo who resides in Holland . The personality disordered APC’s King knows nothing about Sierra Politics . I bet he had asked for the resignation of the ECSL boss. Konneh, you better do the right thing so that you save yourself and your family. Don’t be misled by Maada Bio who looks for his personal ambition and benefits.
Maada Bio is already in the list for investigation at the ICC for crimes against humanity.
Maada Bio’s regime has killed more innocent people than any other government In Sierra Leone and of course he is not going to be let Free.
