Socfin Agricultural Company Workers Declare Peaceful Sit-Down Strike For Improve Conditions
Workers of Socfin Agricultural Company (SAC) have on the 1st of March 2024 taken a stand for better conditions of service, declaring a peaceful sit-down strike across various workstations.
The move comes as a response to longstanding grievances regarding working conditions and treatment within the company.
In a show of solidarity, SAC workers have collectively opted to abstain from their duties until their concerns are addressed. Their demands range from fair wages to improved safety measures and overall better working conditions.
Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Pascal Desmedt, the General Manager of Socfin Agricultural Company, swiftly responded to the workers’ strike. With the support of the recently installed Regent chief of Malen Chiefdom, Alex B. Lamin, Desmedt has issued a commitment statement aimed at resolving the impasse and restoring normalcy to operations.
The commitment statement, viewed as a potential strategy to assuage the concerns of the workers, promises tangible actions to address their grievances. It serves as a beacon of hope, offering assurances that the company is committed to addressing the workers’ concerns in a timely and comprehensive manner.
As part of the agreement, both management and community leaders have pledged to engage in constructive dialogue with the workers to identify and implement solutions that will improve their welfare and working conditions.
In light of these developments, there is optimism that the situation will be resolved amicably, with workers expected to resume their duties promptly. The commitment from both management and community leaders serves as a positive step towards fostering a harmonious working environment at Socfin Agricultural Company.
