The Ministry of Labour, employment and Social Security has in a public notice dated 31st May, 2024 sent a stringent warning to a company called Al-Noor Travelling and Tour Agency Limited that is bent of demanding money from Sierra Leoneans on travelling to abroad to deviate from such illegal practices with immediate effect.
They noted that, it has come to their notice that the aforementioned company being a private Company has been engaged in oversean recruitment and has been requesting applicants to pay Air tickets and Visa fees from Sierra Leoneans.
The ministry has informed the company that they should decist from taking job offers from overseas partners that will require applicants to pay for air tickets and Visas personally.
They maintained that such liabilities and costs must be borne by the private employment agency’s overseas partners.
They advised that any recruitment charges the agency should notify the ministry of the detailed charges involved for approvals.

They also advice the company in particular and all other private overseas employment agencies to comply with the aforementioned notice to take cognisance of the provisions in section 24 (b) of the overseas employment and migrant act 2023, adding that, the general public and particularly prospective migrants workers are at this moment encouraged to deal only with agencies that have obtained licenses from the ministry and to ensure that they seek clarifications at all times before applying to any agency for overseas employment.
