In a press conference held on Monday, August 19, 2024, Sierra Leone Police revealed that charges will soon be brought against three individuals allegedly involved in a plot to manufacture explosives within the country.
Detective Inspector Mohamed A.Y. Kamara announced that Samuel Marrah, Jamal Antar, and Husssein Alie Antar are set to face charges following a comprehensive investigation.
Inspector Kamara detailed that a total of 22 suspects, including four Lebanese nationals and 18 Sierra Leoneans, were interviewed during the investigation. The gathered statements have been forwarded to the Law Officers Department for further review. While the specific charges have not been disclosed, Kamara emphasized that the decision to charge Marrah, Antar, and Antar was made based on directives from the Law Officers Department.
The Inspector clarified that the investigation was conducted in close collaboration with the Law Officers Department, which played a crucial role in advising the police on the next steps. “The decision to proceed with charges was guided by the Law Officers Department,” Kamara said.

The police operation, which led to the arrests of the 22 suspects, also resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of bomb-making materials and illegal drugs. The suspects, who include both Middle Eastern and Sierra Leonean nationals, are currently in police custody.
