The US Government is Forcing Sierra Leone to Legalize Abortion – FOX News Reveals
Sorie Abubakar The proposed abortion bill in Sierra Leone faces fresh controversy as FOX News reports allege pressure from the US government to pass the legislation before the end of the year.
According to the report, the $480 million Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Compact agreement funding for Sierra Leone is reportedly contingent on the bill’s passage. This raises concerns about potential foreign interference influencing Sierra Leone’s democratic process.
The Stop Abortion Sierra Leone campaign has called for an investigation into these claims. They urge legislators to pause the bill’s progress until the allegations are addressed.
The campaign further warns that the incoming US administration under President-elect Trump might impose sanctions on politicians deemed corrupt in the bill’s passage. Additionally, future US agreements with Sierra Leone could be jeopardized.
“This level of interference, bordering on blackmail, is unacceptable,” declared a Stop Abortion Sierra Leone spokesperson. “Passing this bill under such pressure would severely damage the government’s reputation and its commitment to Sierra Leonean values.”
The campaign encourages citizens to peacefully demonstrate their opposition to the bill during its expected Second Reading in Parliament on Thursday, December 19th.

Abortion in Sierra Leone is legal in every sense but paper. It’s done left right and centre without anyone batting an eyelid. I remember when I was living on Sackville Street and downstairs was a Dr Macfoy who would perform dozens of abortions every day.
