The Sierra Leone Police, through the Mano River Division, officially handed over a newly trained group of Community Safety and Vigilance Squad (CSVS) members to the town authorities of Mano Kpende village.
The ceremony, held at 11:00 AM, marks a crucial step in fostering collaboration between the police and local communities to ensure security and order.
Detective Inspector Brima Borbor, the Crime Officer of the Mano River Division, chaired the event in the absence of Chief Superintendent of Police Mr. Philip Albert Kpange, the Local Unit Commander (LUC).
During his address, Inspector Borbor expressed gratitude to the town authorities for embracing the initiative to train young men and women to assist the police in maintaining law and order. He also provided the CSVS members with a briefing on the five powers of arrest, encouraging them to carry out their duties with dedication and professionalism.
Section Chief Madam Fambullah praised the initiative as a positive step toward empowering local youth to support the police in safeguarding the community. She commended the efforts of the LUC and his team in fostering safety and security.
Town Chief Pa Lansana of Mano Kpende village expressed enthusiasm for the program, urging the CSVS members to take their responsibilities seriously and work closely with the authorities. He stressed the importance of cooperation and discipline in their new roles.
Inspector Mohamed Dukuray, the Operations Officer of the Mano River Division and the architect behind the training program, concluded the event with cautionary advice and encouragement.
He urged the CSVS members to perform their duties with integrity, politeness, and accountability. Inspector Dukuray reminded them to report any matters of police interest promptly to prevent missteps and maintain the trust of the community.
The handover of the CSVS members to the town authorities signifies a new chapter in enhancing security and strengthening the partnership between the police and local communities in Sorogbema Chiefdom.
This initiative is expected to foster a safer environment and reinforce the collaborative efforts necessary for maintaining peace and order.
