Prominent entertainment figure and social critic, Alhaji K. Tarawally, commonly known as Laj-K, has announced his resignation from the National Grand Coalition (NGC) political party after eight years as a founding member.
In a statement, he emphasized his commitment to the principles and values he stands for, stating, “I resigned due to the principles and values I stand for.”
Alhaji.K. shares his official resignation letter, outlining his reasons for leaving the party. He expressed concern that the alliance with President Julius Bio contributed to his victory in the June 2023 presidential elections, a campaign he actively supported as a member of the National Coordinating Committee, Communication Committee, and Strategy Campaign Committee.
However, he criticized the NGC for straying from its founding ideals, claiming that while some members advocated for a withdrawal from the alliance to restore the party’s credibility and hold the government accountable, others remained for personal gain, effectively making the NGC a “puppet” of the ruling party.
Looking ahead, Dr. Alhaji K. Tarawallie plans to focus on his new initiative- the Progressive Alliance for Change. He aims to position it as a grassroots movement focused on addressing the needs of the community.
