The Sierra Leone Police held a press briefing on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the Senior Police Officer’s Mess in Kingtom Police Barracks, where they provided an update on recent police operations and shared crime statistics for the second quarter of 2025.
During the briefing, police officials reported a total of 2,128 cases across the country, with the Western Area and Eastern Region recording the highest crime rates.
Notably, Freetown East (F/East) reported 798 cases, including 235 violent crimes. In contrast, Freetown West (F/West) recorded 478 cases during the same period.

The Northern regions showed significantly lower figures, with the Northern Eastern (N/East) region reporting 186 cases and the Northern Western (N/West) region documenting 199 cases.
The police further confirmed that the Southern region had the lowest total, with only 162 cases, while the Eastern Region reported 303 cases.

In addition to the crime statistics, the police disclosed that 156 solar batteries intended for an electricity project in Masiaka had been stolen, with one suspect currently assisting with the investigation.
The police emphasized the urgent need for targeted crime prevention strategies, particularly in urban areas like Freetown East and Freetown West, where economic and property-related crimes are most prevalent.
