First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio and Freetown’s APC Mayor, Dr. Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr, shared a rare and cheerful moment on the same stage during the official launch of Housemates Salone Season 4 at Chapter One.
In a moment that drew laughter from the crowd, both women playfully exchanged light political jabs in the spirit of good humour. The First Lady joked that if the person next to you is SLPP or APC, you should hold their hand. The Mayor, smiling, responded that such a gesture should come from the heart.
The banter continued when the Mayor, in a teasing tone, said that the 2028 elections won’t be left to the SLPP this time “the next one belongs to the APC.” The First Lady laughed and called the Mayor her big sister, playfully adding that while she would let her be for now, “we all know who really stirs the political pot.”
The Mayor, equally lighthearted, responded that while the First Lady may have had the upper hand before, the APC has no plans of letting the next one slip away.
The crowd erupted in cheers and laughter, enjoying the rare moment of political levity. Despite their party differences, both women brought charm and humour to the stage. After their playful exchange, they jointly declared Housemates Salone Season 4 officially launched.
Their shared presence at the event brought a refreshing mix of politics and entertainment a rare sight that added warmth, humour, and a unique twist to the night’s celebrations.
