A dramatic video has surfaced showing the moment Liberian drug enforcement officers intercepted Alonso Yeah (also known as Alonso Abasi) and three others during a routine vehicle inspection at the Bo Waterside Port of entry.

The group was found with 844 grams of Methcathinone, a highly potent synthetic stimulant drug.

The suspects were found with 844 grams of Methcathinone, a powerful synthetic drug, concealed in the rear door of a blue Nissan Primera (Plate #A120421).

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) stated the drugs are valued at USD 8,440 (or 1,688,000 Liberian Dollars) and confirmed it as the first known attempt to introduce Methcathinone into the Liberian market.

Alonso Yeah (aka Alonso Abasi), 35 – Liberian artist based in Sierra Leone

Eariel Xavises Aweti, 36 – Sierra Leonean

Samuel R. Grey, 28 – Sierra Leonean

Matthew Sherman, 25 – Liberian, VOA Community resident

A video of the arrest shows officers discovering the drugs during inspection, dismantling the vehicle door, and detaining the suspects. The footage has since gone viral, raising public concern  especially due to Alonzo’s known involvement in anti-drug advocacy through music.
