The Press Secretary to the President of Sierra Leone, Yusuf Keketoma Sandi Esq., paid tribute to the late Hawa Moseray, Senior State House Correspondent for the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), during a memorial service at the SLBC compound in New England Ville.
The Senior Journalist, Moseray, suddenly passed away on August 2, 2025, at the age of 51, leaving behind her husband and three children.
During the service, Sandi opened a Book of Condolence and expressed profound sorrow over Moseray’s death, stating, “A loss so deep that words seem inadequate to express the full measure of our grief and the depth of our loss.” He emphasized the need to celebrate her life and contributions, highlighting her dedication and courage.

Sandi recalled Moseray’s steadfast support during critical moments in Sierra Leone’s political landscape. He remarked, “Hawa was not just a colleague; she was an unshakeable pillar of strength. When others wavered, she stood firm.” He praised her resilience, calling her “an anchor in the storm” and “a beacon of hope.”
Moseray was recognized as the voice and face of the presidency on SLBC. Sandi noted that her commitment was driven by a deep love for President Julius Maada Bio and the leadership she served.

He recounted an offer he made to promote her to Deputy Director General at SLBC, which she declined, stating, “My place is at State House, standing by the President’s side, serving not for title or advancement, but from a place of sacred responsibility.”
He further highlighted Moseray’s understanding of her role’s responsibilities, saying, “For her, State House was not just a workplace; it was a calling.” Sandi acknowledged the impact of her loss on both the President and her colleagues, stating, “She was a friend to many, offering comfort, counsel, and courage when it was most needed.”

Sandi remarked, “Her legacy is one we must carry forward, a legacy of courage, commitment, and compassion.” He expressed gratitude for her friendship and service, adding, “Rest well, dear Aunty H. You have done more than your part with grace and dignity. May your soul find the peace you so richly deserve. We will miss you always.”
The memorial service featured eulogies from family members, representatives from SLBC, the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Women in the Media Sierra Leone (WIMSAL), and a close friend. The event was officiated by Rev. Father Samuel von Tucker and included a Gospel reflection from the Book of John 11:17-27.

The memorial was organized collaboratively by the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation and State House, bringing together colleagues and loved ones to honor Moseray’s contributions to journalism and her unwavering support for the presidency.
