Rapper Kao Denero has been granted Le50,000 bail as he awaits further proceedings in an ongoing case involving alleged intimidation.
The case resumed on Monday, August 11, 2025, before Magistrate Adama Kandeh at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 4. where Denero faces two charges: incitement and intimidation, as per the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965.
According to the particulars of the offense, Kao Denero is accused of unlawfully inciting individuals, including Medlenero and Amadu Sesay, to assault complainant Fredrick Dapaye Peters at the Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel on February 22, 2025. The second count alleges that he used the same individuals to behave in a disorderly manner at the same location and date.
Upon reading the charges, the accused pleaded not guilty. Magistrate Kandeh addressed a bench warrant issued for his previous absence, noting that Kao Denero had failed to provide proper documentation regarding his medical leave, which extended beyond the two weeks he had requested.
Defense counsel A. Kamara applied for bail, emphasizing Kao Denero’s status as a prominent ambassador for the Sierra Leone Entertainment Industry and a role model for youth. He argued that the prosecution had not submitted an affidavit opposing the bail request, invoking Section 79(2) of the Criminal Procedure Act, 1965.
In response, prosecuting counsel M. Sesay opposed the bail application, clarifying that it was not mandatory for the prosecution to submit an affidavit, citing Section 100X of the same act. He urged the court to set appropriate conditions to ensure the accused’s appearance in future hearings.
Magistrate Kandeh ultimately granted bail to Kao Denero in the sum of Le50,000, requiring two sureties residing within the court’s jurisdiction. The sureties must provide their National Identity Cards as proof of address in Freetown, and the bail conditions are subject to approval by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
