The Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MOICE) and Tourism and Cultural Affairs (MoTCA) held a high-level bilateral meeting to advance the implementation of Sierra Leone’s first National Film Policy. On Friday, 12th September 2025.

The meeting, led by Ministers Chernor Bah and Nabeela Tunis, concentrated on aligning plans for a joint ownership and rollout of the landmark policy, which aims to strengthen the country’s creative sector, attract investment, and promote Sierra Leone’s cultural heritage worldwide.

Minister Bah noted that the policy will be geared towards creating a Modern Film Infrastructure, Film training Institution, regulating and categorizing films, amongst others.

Furthermore, the ministers emphasised the policy’s role in strengthening the creative sector, attracting domestic and foreign investment, creating jobs, and promoting Sierra Leone’s cultural heritage to international audiences.

The Policy is a blueprint for media development in the country that was developed by professionals to create a more inclusive and professional environment in Sierra Leone. Also, next steps for regulatory alignment, stakeholder engagement, and promotional strategies to ensure effective delivery across the country will be developed by both party.
