With Justice Adrian Fisher having at the last adjourned date overruled defense counsel John Fitzgerald Kamara’s application for the corruption case against his client, Dr. Samura Kamara and five others to be quashed, on the basis of irregularities, trial at the High Court in Freetown continued on Monday 28th February, 2022.

Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Prosecutor, Joseph Noah finished reading of the statements for the five accused persons in court – Foday Bawoh first accused, Adikali Suma second, Kandeh Kamara, Dr. Samura Kamara and American citizen Jules Sanders agent/contractor.

The prosecution led by ACC lawyer, OV Robin Mason, tendered several evidential documents to the court. One of the documents tendered as evidence gave an Analyses of Payments from the Accountant General in respect of rehabilitation of the Sierra Leone Chancery Building in New York.

Another set of documents tendered was a Payment Summary dated September 9th, 2016 and payees as the Sierra Leone UN Delegation New York to the amount of Le6.069 billion.

Additionally evidential Payment Summary documents tendered of payments made to the Sierra Leone UN Mission in New York were also tendered for the period January 6th 2019 to June 19th, 2019 totaling a little above Le13 billion.

Justice Fisher adjourned the matter to Friday 4th March, 2022.

The Satellite Newspaper reports that, Dr. Samura Kamara is charged with the two counts of deceiving a principal (the Government of Sierra Leone) and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of USD2.4 million.

Collectively, all the accused are before the court on 48 count indictments ranging from misappropriation of public funds, conspiracy to commit a corruption offense, abuse of office and other corruption related offenses
