Yesterday, I had the privilege of listening to a conversation between two top MLS goal scorers, Kei Kamara and Augustine Williams.
As a proud Sierra Leonean, I must express how delighted I am with the insuccess and remarkable records these players have achieved at club level.
Both stand among the second-highest goal scorers in the history of the MLS an achievement that speaks volumes about their talent and consistency.
During their discussion, Kei Kamara posed a very important question to Augustine Williams: why is it that they score so many goals for their clubs but find it difficult to replicate the same form for the national team? Augustine’s response was sincere and thoughtful, and I must admit that I agreed with him on certain points.
It is worth noting that Augustine was first called up to the national team by former coach John Keister, who gave him several opportunities to prove himself. Today, he has risen to the rank of second all-time goal scorer in the MLS, two which is a historic accomplishment.
As a sports journalist, I firmly believe that the current technical team should grant him another opportunity. Dialogue is key sit down with him, listen to his perspective, and clearly communicate how you want him to fit into the system. Sometimes, a simple conversation helps uncover challenges and provides clarity.
This is why the discussion with Kei Kamara was both timely and necessary.
Therefore, I humbly appeal to you, Coach Mohamed Kallon, to give Augustine Williams another chance to represent Sierra Leone. He is currently in top form at his club and continues to demonstrate the qualities of a striker who can contribute greatly to the Leone Stars.
With his status as the second all-time MLS goal scorer, I believe he deserves the opportunity to once again prove himself on the international stage.

He’s been called several times by coach John Keister, but his performances were very very poor. Perhaps he did not want play for his country. Let him give chance to those who want to show love for their country. We have many young players who their performances are outstanding. If there is any other opportunities for him again, let him wait after the qualification.
