Member of Parliament Hon. Jaway Sesay has urged the government and security authorities to take strong action following the death of Brima “Omoray” Kargbo, a Crops Officer at the Ministry of Agriculture in Kambia District.
Kargbo was allegedly killed by his colleague, Mohamed Alpha Bashiru Fofanah, also an employee of the Ministry of Agriculture in the district. Reports indicate that both men had lived in the same quarters for years and had a history of frequent disputes.
Witnesses said the deceased had repeatedly reported his concerns about Fofanah to their supervisor, the District Agricultural Officer (DAO), but little attention was given to his complaints.
According to accounts from residents, the fatal incident occurred on Thursday night after another heated argument between the two men. Fofanah allegedly strangled Kargbo during the confrontation.
He later surrendered himself at the police station, reportedly telling officers that he had “done something bad” in what he described as an act of self-defense. It is further alleged that before reporting to the police, he informed the DAO about the incident, urging him to arrange for Kargbo’s body to be collected.
Hon. Jaway Sesay, who is both a family member and representative of the constituency, said an autopsy report indicated that the deceased sustained strangulation and physical assault. He called on the government and the Sierra Leone Police to give the matter the serious attention it deserves.
Meanwhile, the Kambia Police Media Officer, Clodius Moses Gray, confirmed that the suspect, Mohamed Alpha Bashiru, is currently in custody while investigations continue. He disclosed in an interview on Culture Radio’s News and Current Affairs Morning Ride that the incident took place in the shared residence of the two men, and Kargbo was found lying on the floor before bing rushed to the hospital.
The body of the deceased has been transferred to Freetown for a post-mortem examination as investigations into the circumstances of his death proceed.

The authorities really need to carry out an independent and impartial investigation into his death and ensure that necessary actions be taken. I will be missing you my one time crops officer. May Allah grant you Aljanatu Firdaus. Ameen
