Senior citizen and longtime political supporter Joseph Sannoh has issued a warning to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), suggesting he may leave the party if he continues to be treated unfairly.

Speaking in a radio interview with Liberty, Sannoh expressed frustration over what he perceives as the neglect of grassroots members in favor of new allies.

Responding to recent photographs of him attending an APC Jagaban event, he stated that if figures like Alpha Khan and Victor Foh could leave the APC to join the SLPP, there is nothing wrong with him leaving the ruling party to support someone he believes is a strong player.

“I do not have any plan to leave now, but I cannot rule it out in the future,” Sannoh said.

When asked about offers he has been receiving from other parties, Sannoh declined to disclose details, noting that he will keep them private for now. He emphasized that, as someone with influence and a voice in the political arena, he will support whoever he believes has the potential to win the 2028 elections.

For the present, Sannoh said he remains supportive of the strides taken by the First Lady. He added that his presence at the Jagaban event was motivated by respect for the good work he has seen, and he clarified that he did not receive any financial inducement.
