The Sierra Leone National team, Leone Stars, commenced immediate training upon their arrival in Monrovia, Liberia, on Friday, October 3rd, 2025, as early preparation for their match against Burkina Faso in the FIFA World Cup African Qualifiers.

The national team will face a crucial encounter with Burkina Faso at the Samuel K. Doe Stadium on Wednesday, 8 October 2025.

Fresh off their arrival in Monrovia, Leone Stars wasted no time hitting the pitch on Friday evening with a sharp activation session ahead of their crucial clash against Burkina Faso.

According to SLFA, the training season kicks off “From light jogs to stretches and short sprints, the players got their engines warmed up as Coach Mohamed Kallon kept the tempo high and demanded more intensity. This World Cup qualifier is a do-or-die battle, and only a win will keep Sierra Leone’s dream alive for that all-important playoff spot in November.’’

Additionally, Minnesota United forward Momoh Kamara arrived at the Leone Stars camp last night ahead of their match.

The 20-year-old was a key performer in Sierra Leone’s 2-0 win against Ethiopia last month, scoring the opening goal in the 37th minute.

Sierra Leone, sitting in third position, will need a win to leap-frog Burkina Faso and up their chances for a play-off spot. The Leone Stars, will play their final match against the Group A minnows, Djibouti days later in Morocco.
