Ibrahim Kamara, Head of Media and Marketing of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), has been appointed by WAFU A as the Media and Marketing Officer for the U-17 AFCON Qualifiers.

The upcoming Confederation of African Football (CAF) Africa Cup of Nations U-17 Qualifiers WAFU A edition is scheduled to take place in Bamako, Mali, from Friday, October 3rd to October 18th, 2025.

WAFU A also selected two Sierra Leonean FIFA referees to serve in the tournament. They include Sulaiman Sanito Kamara as center Referee and Mamoud Alie Conteh as assistant referee respectively.

According to SLFA, “These appointments mark another milestone for Sierra Leonean football, reflecting growing recognition of the country’s officials and administrators on the continental stage.’’

The competition serves as a qualifier for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. Eight teams are divided into two groups. The eight participating teams placed in groups are: Group A: Mali (host), Liberia, Gambia, and Guinea-Bissau, Group B: Senegal, Sierra Leone, Mauritania, and Guinea.

The WAFU Zone A U-17 Girls Tournament was recently concluded in Liberia, with Sierra Leone winning the championship. The men’s U-17 tournament is the next major competition.
