Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President, Babadi Kamara, had a historic moment at the 47th CAF General Assembly in Kinshasa, captaining a team and participating in an exhibition match against some of Africa’s football legends.

Kamara led a combined WAFU A, WAFU B, and CECAFA side against UNAF, COSAFA, and UNIFFSC in a thrilling friendly match that ended 5–5. The match featured icons such as Kalusha Bwalya, El Hadji Diouf, CAF President Patrice Motsepe, and the CAF General Secretary, Veron Mosengo-Omba.

Reflecting on the experience, Babadi  Kamara wrote on social media:
“Today, God gave me the singular opportunity to captain a team against legends of African football… I owe this to God Almighty and Sierra Leoneans. This opportunity I will cherish till my last breath.”

The exhibition was part of CAF engagements bringing together football leaders and legends to promote unity and celebrate the sport. The SLFA President, accompanied by his Vice President, Ali Badara Tarawallie and Acting General Secretary, Ing. Mohamed Benson Bawoh, also participated in a WAFU A zonal meeting discussing youth football development, infrastructure, and collaboration among member federations.

President Kamara’s participation highlights Sierra Leone’s growing influence in African football and marks a memorable milestone in his journey as a football administratior.

Kamara, who became president of the Sierra Leone FA, recently, campaigned on reforming football in Sierra Leone and providing equal opportunities for all.
