The Sports Writers Association of Sierra Leone (SWASAL) North has received a donation of One Thousand Four Hundred and Fifty New Leones (NLe 1,450) from Shebora Samba Kamara.
Kamara, a renowned media practitioner, lecturer, and youth advocate, said the donation is intended to assist SWASAL North members in acquiring their International Sports Press Association (AIPS) cards.
He commended the outstanding work of sports journalists in the region and described the AIPS card as a “greater platform” for breaking barriers and securing international recognition.
“It’s a green light to excel on the international stage, especially now that we live in a global village due to technological advancements,” Kamara noted.
Umaro Saidu Turay, Secretary-General of SWASAL North, hailed Kamara’s generosity, noting that holding an AIPS card provides several opportunities, including access to exclusive publications on its website.
“It is also essential for some international travels to cover matches, and this donation will contribute to our global presence drive,” he added.
Kamara’s gesture to SWASAL North underscores his continued commitment to supporting professional development and promoting excellence in sports journalism.
