The Young Women in Democracy Forum (YWDF) has engaged the Rainbo Initiative to strengthen collaboration in the fight against Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) across Sierra Leone.
During the meeting, the National Coordinator of YWDF, Ms. Badriatu Turay, highlighted the Forum’s flagship PANTS Campaign—an underwear rule initiative designed to educate children on understanding, preventing, and reporting sexual abuse. She also introduced the PANTS Song, an interactive educational tool promoting child safety awareness.
Ms. Turay further emphasized YWDF’s strong nationwide presence through its regional and district structures, which ensures effective outreach and lasting community impact.
On his part, the Director of the Rainbo Initiative, Mr. Daniel Ketor, commended the engagement and underscored the need for stronger partnerships to combat SGBV.
He noted that Rainbo provides free psychosocial, medical, and other essential support services to survivors across the country, while also using survivor stories to raise awareness and promote prevention.
Both organizations reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting gender equality, child protection, and building safer communities across Sierra Leone.
