The Chinese Embassy in Sierra Leone presented two new utility vehicles to the nation’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on October 17, 2025. The handover ceremony was held at the Ministry’s headquarters on Tower Hill in Freetown.

During the event, the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Wang Qing emphasised that the contribution signifies more than material support; it represents a steadfast commitment to Sierra Leone’s institutional efficacy. He praised the Ministry’s critical role in maintaining and advancing foreign relations and affirmed China’s ongoing dedication to its mutual partnership.

Foreign Minister Timothy Musa Kabba, receiving the vehicles, expresses profound appreciation, describing the donation as a testament to the resilient 54-year friendship between both countries. He expressed eagerness to deepen cooperation across bilateral and multilateral platforms, ensuring mutual progress and prosperity.

Minister Kabba highlighted China’s enduring legacy within Sierra Leone, from iconic infrastructures such as the National Stadium and Youyi Building to vital assistance during the Ebola and COVID-19 health crises. He further noted the expanding collaboration across academia, scientific innovation, defense, and trade as clear indicators of a dynamic and evolving partnership.

The ceremony concluded with both nations reaffirming their dedication to a future of enhanced cooperation, with Sierra Leone extending sincere gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for its consistent solidarity and support.
