The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the ongoing nationwide crackdown on narcotic drugs, a campaign that continues to yield significant results across the country.
Speaking at the SLP’s weekly press conference on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess in Kingtom, Director of Operations, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) John Matine Senesie, disclosed that over 130 arrests were made in the past week alone. Notably, five police officers were among those apprehended for drug-related offences.
AIG Senesie highlighted several high-profile arrests involving large quantities of suspected Kush and other illicit substances:
Mariama Bangura and Alfred Kanu – 31 October, Rasmusson Street, Brookfields; 707 wraps of Kush.
Abdul Rahman Conteh – 29 October, Ferry Junction; 560 wraps of Kush.
Hassanatu Samai – 4 November, Allen Town; 434 wraps of Kush.
Bai Mansaray – 20 October, Cline Town; 347 wraps of Kush.
Police Constables Thomas Anthony Momoh and Abu Harding – Mile 13, Goderich; six half-filled black polythene bags containing loose Kush (charged to court on 30 October).
Kadiatu Kondeh and Mariama Stella Koroma – Aberdeen; 239 wraps of Cannabis Sativa and 509 wraps of Kush, respectively.
Sergeant Musa Sidikie Swaray – 3 November, Mile 91 Police Barracks; 284 wraps and 15 sachets of Kush.
Additional arrests included: Aron Brainard (541 wraps of Kush), Ibrahim Conteh (539 wraps), Mohamed Sesay (100 wraps), Hassanatu Sesay (225 wraps and loose Kush), Isatu Kamara and Kadiatu Kamara (172 wraps), Alhaji Bundu (8 boxes of Tramadol), and Samuel Koroma (131 wraps). All seized substances are pending forensic analysis or legal advice.
Police Officers Implicated
AIG Senesie confirmed the arrest of five police officers in connection with the crackdown:

Constable Allieu Bangura
Constable Anthony Momoh
Sergeant Musa Sidikie Swaray
“There are no sacred cows in this fight,” AIG Senesie declared. “Those found culpable regardless of status or position will face the full force of the law.”

Freetown West: 10 suspects
Freetown East: 30 suspects
North-East Region: 22 suspects
Southern Region: 26 suspects
Eastern Region: 48 suspects
All suspects are currently under investigation.
Reaffirming the SLP’s determination to dismantle drug networks and protect communities, AIG Senesie urged the public to continue providing credible information.
“The fight against the deadly menace of drugs requires collective effort from all citizens,” he emphasized.
