University of Sierra Leone Graduates 5,301 Students at 2025 Congregation Ceremony
Valentine Benjamin Conteh The Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University of Sierra Leone (USL), Prof. Aiah Lebbie (PhD, COR), has disclosed that a total of 5,301 students successfully graduated during the institution’s two-day 2025 congregation ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Lebbie revealed that 2,751 students from the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) and the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) graduated on Day One. The second day saw 2,550 graduates from Fourah Bay College (FBC) and the School of Postgraduate Studies receive their degrees.
Addressing attendees at the FBC and Postgraduate Studies ceremony, Prof. Lebbie appealed to the Ministry of Higher Education, noting that the University of Sierra Leone is operating under significant strain due to inadequate infrastructure and limited capacity. He emphasised that the rapidly increasing student population requires urgent government attention to ensure quality higher education delivery.
Prof. Lebbie also urged the new graduates to expand their ambitions beyond traditional job-seeking. He encouraged them to pursue innovation, entrepreneurship, and job creation in a highly competitive labour market dominated by talented and ambitious individuals.
