The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has confirmed a power outage affecting the Central Business District (CBD) of Freetown due to a faulty underground transmission link.

In a statement released on Thursday, 19th December 2025, EDSA explained that the issue involves a transmission line connecting PWD, Soldier Street, and Falcon Bridge. Technical teams have been deployed and are taking immediate action to restore electricity.

Affected areas include Soldier Street, Electricity House, UMC, NIC, NASSIT, RITCHCORP, Cotton Tree, GUMA Building, Ministry of Finance, SLCB, BSL, Sam Bangura Building, Leone Building, Catholic Mission, as well as major banks including UBA, Rokel Commercial Bank, UT Bank, ECO Bank, and Access Bank.

EDSA has assured customers that repairs are expected to be completed by 3:00 PM on Saturday, 21st December 2025.

The authority extended an apology to all affected customers for the inconvenience and expressed appreciation for their patience as work continues to restore normal power supply.
