Tragedy struck the Benguema Military Barracks this morning as a soldier allegedly shot and killed a senior officer, identified as Major Abdul Lakoh (also referred to as Major Larko).
According to sources close to the incident, the confrontation occurred earlier today when the junior soldier reportedly called Major Lakoh to attention before firing three shots at him. The Major was killed instantly.
The motive is believed to be connected to a personal grievance.

Sources close to the matter indicate the suspect had recently been demoted and held a grudge against Major Larko, whom he allegedly blamed for his career setback.
The exact circumstances leading to the shooting and the suspect’s current status remain unclear.
Military officials have not yet released an official statement regarding the incident or the identity of the shooter.
Investigations are expected to commence immediately.

Allahu Akbar
Is there any way the mental stability of military recruits is tested before absorption into the army? Last month another military officer attached to the presidential guard unit was shot dead by a junior officer for a very trivial amount of money. And if such fatal incidents are regular occurrences among military officers, how safe are ordinary civilians?
