President Julius Maada Bio is scheduled to deliver a nationwide presidential address on Sunday, 18 January 2026, in observance of National Remembrance Day, according to an official statement from the President.
The address will begin at 7:00 AM and will be broadcast throughout the day on SLBC TV and Radio, as well as other news outlets across the country, ensuring nationwide coverage for Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad.
In the statement, President Bio confirmed his intention to speak to the nation as part of activities marking the day. “On Sunday, 18th January 2026, I will deliver my Presidential Address to commemorate National Remembrance Day, starting at 7:00 AM and continuing throughout the day. Watch live on SLBC TV/Radio and other news outlets nationwide,” the President said.
National Remembrance Day will be observed annually to honour the memory of victims of the civil conflict and to reflect on the country’s journey toward peace, unity, and reconciliation. The presidential address is expected to focus on remembrance, national reflection, and shared commitment to sustaining peace and cohesion.
