The All People’s Congress (APC) has officially announced the commencement of applications for various ward-level positions ahead of its forthcoming ward conventions this year.
According to a public notice issued on January 17, 2025, application forms are now available at all APC Regional Offices across the country for party members interested in contesting for leadership positions at ward level.
The notice states that aspirants are required to submit hard copies of their completed application forms to their respective Regional Offices. In addition, applicants must send a snapshot of the same documents via WhatsApp to 073802003 within fourteen (14) days from the date of publication.
Applicants are also expected to submit proof of valid party membership registration along with up-to-date subscription payment receipts. The party stressed that compliance with all outlined procedures is mandatory, noting that membership registration and related requirements are core conditions for the validity and consideration of all applications.
The application forms are being sold at a fee of Twenty Leones (Le 20).
This move is seen as part of APC’s broader efforts to strengthen internal democracy and promote active participation of its members across all regions of Sierra Leone.
With Sierra Leone expected to head to the polls in 2028, lower-level elections are crucial steps for political parties hoping to contest in the General Election.
Supporters of Sierra Leone’s largest opposition party, the APC see this as a major step towards unity within the party. In the past few years, the party was drawn into internal conflict with one set challenging the undemocratic system of the APC. This internal conflict led to the formation of a new democratic constitution.
