The Secretary General of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Lansana Dumbuya, has reportedly been charged in court over allegations relating to incitement and other offences.

According to reports, Dumbuya faces three counts, including incitement, insulting conduct, and public insult against the President. The charges are said to stem from statements allegedly made during the APC’s rally held on January 31, 2026, at the Atuga Mini Stadium in the east end of Freetown.

It was further reported that days after the rally, Dumbuya was invited to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), where he spent the night before being released the following day.

The matter is expected to attract public interest given the nature of the charges and their potential implications for political activities in the country.
