The Regional Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the North East Region has taken Unisa John Turay into police custody in connection with an alleged murder case and related offences.

According to reports, on Wednesday 18th February 2026 at about 10:00 PM in Makambo Village, Makeni, the lifeless body of Sydriatu Bangura was discovered lying in a pool of blood with a suspected stab wound to her neck. The matter was reported to the police by family members.

A team of officers, led by the Regional Crime Officer D/ASP Ishaka Lamin Turay, visited the scene. Photographs were taken and a kitchen knife believed to be connected to the incident was recovered as an exhibit.

The remains of the deceased have been conveyed to Makama Government Hospital in Makeni for post-mortem examination.
