The Ministry of Finance has bade farewell to the outgoing Country Manager of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Halima Y. Hashi, whose five-year tenure as Country Manager in Sierra Leone has come to an end.
Minister of Finance, Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura, in his statement, thanked Hashi for her commitment and dedication to Sierra Leone during her tenure.
He noted that when she took over the role, as country manager, there were challenges with several AfDB-funded projects, but with her steadfastness, most of these projects were completed or are on track.

The Minister further mentioned that the outgoing Country Manager was able to facilitate additional resources outside the country portfolio to support Agriculture, Energy, Water, and Road construction.
He added that the government will miss her but also wishes her well in her future endeavours.
In her response, Halima Hashi thanked the Government and the people of Sierra Leone for the cordial working relationship and the Ministry of Finance for organising such an event in her honour, noting that the experience she gathered working across the different sectors in Sierra Leone will always be with her.

Other Speakers, including the World Bank Country Manager, the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, and the Director General of Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), expressed similar sentiments and shared their experiences working with Madam Hashi on several projects across sectors.
The event was attended by representatives from development partner organisations and Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of government that are direct beneficiaries of AfBD projects.
