Mohamed Gento Kamara, a prominent entrepreneur and philanthropist, has publicly refuted claims connecting him to convicted Dutch cocaine kingpin Jos Leijdekkers, also known as ‘Bolle Jos’.
Following recent allegations that surfaced in Sierra Leone, Kamara emphasized that he has never met Leijdekkers and has no ties to his criminal activities.
The controversy erupted after a misleading image circulated on social media, featuring the caption “Breaking News” alongside a claim that a Dutch drug baron financed Kamara’s seaport project. The collage included visuals of busy ports and other unrelated figures, suggesting dubious financial connections.
In a statement, Gento Kamara expressed his outrage over the unfounded accusations, declaring, “Anyone trying to link me to such baseless claims or tarnish my reputation will face drastic measures.” He highlighted the ongoing issue of innocent Sierra Leoneans being unfairly targeted and called for an end to such practices.
Gento Kamara expressed concern over the growing trend of targeting innocent Sierra Leoneans, urging for an end to such defamatory tactics. “The price of success is hard work and dedication,” he emphasized, highlighting his commitment to integrity and community service.
A well-respected figure in Sierra Leone, Kamara is the founder and owner of the Gento Group of Companies, a successful road construction firm with assets valued in the millions. He is also a dedicated philanthropist, having empowered over 3,000 young people and women through various entrepreneurial initiatives. His support extends to numerous charities and non-governmental organizations aimed at uplifting his community.
Gento Kamara, who was born and raised in Freetown, has a deep connection to his homeland. After an appeal from former President Ahmed Tejan Kabbah, he returned to Sierra Leone to aid in reviving its economy and mentoring youth who had lost hope.
Gento concluded his remarks with a powerful message: “The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and the determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”
The issue or problem here is not Gento. It’s our lame and useless Parliament. They ratified a contract without ever disclosing who the funding agency is. How can you have a project of such magnitude without knowing where the funding is coming from. Furthermore, does Gento has the expertise to undertake such a project, or was the company going to be a local partner?
