The Minister of Information and Civic Education, Chernor Bah, on Wednesday, February 26, 2026, held bilateral talks with the Turkish Ambassador to Sierra Leone, HE Yusuf Burak Rende, in the Minister’s office in Freetown.
The meeting, also attended by the Director of Civic Education and Citizen’s Engagement, Timothy Sam, focused on strategic communication, development cooperation and joint investment storytelling.
Minister Bah commended Turkey’s strong national branding and communication model. He stated that, “Sierra Leone can learn significantly from Turkey’s blueprint on strategic communication, diplomacy and national image projection.” He also highlighted the Ministry’s interest in structured exchanges, media partnerships and capacity building in civic engagement and the new media.
Ambassador Rende reaffirmed Turkey’s readiness to deepen cooperation through training support and exchange programmes for communication professionals, as well as technical collaboration between relevant institutions.
The Ambassador and the Minister underscored the importance of coordinated storytelling to highlight investment and development successes, including the role of Turkish companies such as Summa Group.
Minister Bah emphasized that “structured, strategic communication around investment success stories will enhance Sierra Leone’s global positioning.”
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to strengthen Sierra Leone–Turkey relations through strategic communication cooperation, capacity building, media partnerships and continued high-level diplomatic engagements.
