The High Commissioner of the British High Commission paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs to reinforce collaboration between the Government of Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom.
The meeting was focused on strengthening the partnership and advancing shared priorities between the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs and the British High Commission. Discussions centered on child protection, women’s rights, gender empowerment, and inclusive social protection systems.
Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs expressed appreciation to the High Commissioner for the Commission’s continued support to the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry. She noted that this year has been declared by His Excellency the President as a “Year of Bold Action,” emphasizing that the Ministry is taking deliberate and determined steps to promote gender equality, enhance child protection mechanisms, and expand social protection services to ensure that no child is left behind.

In her remarks, the High Commissioner commended the Honourable Minister for her steadfast and servant leadership at the Ministry. She underscored the importance of sustained cooperation and reaffirmed the High Commission’s commitment to working closely with the Ministry to advance key priorities. These include the full implementation of the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment Act, the Child Rights Act, as well as initiatives promoting social inclusion, gender mainstreaming, and access to quality education.
The meeting reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to fostering open and strategic partnerships while ensuring that gender equality and child protection are fully implemented across all sectors, both public and private, in Sierra Leone.
