A cross-section of the executive of the Producers and Music Engineers of Sierra Leone, led by President Moses K. Baimba (Lord Mo), met with the Minister of Information to discuss the ongoing copyright-related dispute within the music industry.

The association briefed the Minister on steps taken to investigate and resolve the issue amicably. They highlighted the need to address recurring challenges, particularly weak enforcement of copyright laws, and proposed solutions including stronger legal frameworks, educational workshops, and healthy studio practices.

Minister Chernor Bah, recognizing the association’s unwavering dedication, lauded their proactive stance and assured them of unwavering governmental support to fortify Sierra Leone’s music Industry.

“We are diligently working to modernize the legal landscape and enhance enforcement mechanisms,” he affirmed, emphasizing the exploration of cutting-edge technological tools designed to uphold intellectual property rights and expediently resolve disputes.

The Minister’s office is an integral part of a transformative committee diligently working to reform intellectual property laws that will ensure robust legal protection for creatives.
