Thirty-five-year-old Dudu Sesay, a petty trader, appeared before Magistrate Mary Julia Gbloha at Court No. 5, Pademba Road Court Complex, Freetown.

Sesay is standing trial on one count of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(i) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, between 1st June 2025 and 30th June 2025 at Hill Top, Hill Station, Freetown, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, the accused fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit 317 bags of charcoal.

Each bag was valued at One Hundred and Thirty Leones (Le 130), making a total value of Forty-One Thousand, Two Hundred and Ten Leones (Le 41,210). The charcoal was entrusted to him by Yembeg Kanku Mansaray for the purpose of sale.

Police prosecutor Esther Tambo (1559) was unable to proceed with the case after the defendant applied for an adjournment, stating that he needed time to engage a lawyer. The court granted the application.

The accused was subsequently remanded at the Male Correctional Centre, Pademba Road. The matter has been adjourned to Tuesday, 22nd April 2026.
