Twelve accused persons have made their second appearance before Magistrate Peter Gorgra at the Moyamba Magistrate Court in connection with a fatal incident that occurred on January 8, 2026, at a sand mining site in Taiama Town, Kori Chiefdom.

The incident reportedly resulted in the death of Chief Alhaji Lamin Moseray of Bai Largoh. Among those standing trial is John Kuku, along with eleven others.

The prosecution is being led by Sergeant J.F. Coker, while the accused are represented by defence lawyers including J.M.S. Koroma Esq., H.M. Karimu, F. Gbao, and S.K. Ansumana.

During Tuesday’s proceedings, Magistrate Gorgra ruled that, due to the seriousness of the charges, none of the accused would be granted bail at this stage.

The case has been adjourned to April 28, 2026, for further hearing.

The courtroom was attended by sympathisers from both the bereaved family and relatives of the accused.
