A 40-year-old Sierra Leonean travel consultant based in the United Arab Emirates, Lamin Dabor, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown by Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown over alleged visa fraud.
The defendant is before the court on nine-count charge, including one count of conspiracy and eight counts of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of offence, on diverse dates between 14 May 2024 and 17 September 2025 at No. 19 Falcon Street, Western Area, Freetown, the defendant allegedly conspired with other persons unknown to commit a crime, namely obtaining money by false pretences.
The charge sheet further states that on 14 May 2024, the defendant, with intent to defraud, obtained Le3,000 from Isha Titi Kamara by falsely pretending that he would facilitate her travel to Canada, knowing the representation to be false. On the same date, he allegedly obtained an additional Le2,000 from the same complainant under similar pretences.
On 8 July 2024, the defendant is accused of obtaining Le19,000 from the complainant, again under the pretext of facilitating her travel to Canada. On 14 July 2024, he allegedly obtained Le1,000.
The court also heard that on 19 July 2025, the defendant obtained Le700; on 16 September 2025, Le398; and on 17 September 2025, Le8,000—all from the same complainant under similar alleged false pretences.
In the final count, the defendant is further accused of obtaining Le5,507 from Isha Titi Kamara on 17 September 2025, again claiming he would facilitate her travel to Canada, which prosecutors say he knew to be untrue.
When the charges were read and explained, no plea was taken.
Prosecutor, Sergeant 8811 Florence M. Wilson, informed the court that the defendant had been served with a bundle of his statements.
Magistrate Fornah refused bail and ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody. The matter was adjourned to 29 April 2026 for further proceedings.
